Project Shooting Star - Elizabeth (2024)

You may have remebered this chapter as Keefe. Not anymore. Due to personal reasons, I will not attempt to embody the voices of characters (lack of self-confidence, that's the personal reason) Apart from the POV switch, everything will remain pretty much as is plot-wise.

Settling into her life with an estranged father, a prankster of a brother, and a goblin with dyed hair was easier than Elizabeth thought. Sure, Lord Cassius still skulked and threw dirty looks at them during mealtime, but the Shores of Solaces (or Suffering, as Elizabeth cleverly mocked), was so unbelievably big they could avoid him effortlessly.

She went to Foxfire, took her classes about her abilities, learned about what she would describe as "elf racism" against the humans, and in general aced every class. The teachers all seemed fond of her, however rowdy she was, and while Lady Belva had hinted at multiple times how attractive Lord Cassius looked, Eliza would generally agree that the first week of Foxfire and elvish life was going quite well.

And she had got to know Keefe and Ro much better, introducing them to Oreos, which they considered food from the gods. Keefe had already finished the last package of Oreos Eliza had, and was pestering her to go back into the hu- Forbidden Cities for more.

They played pranks on each other, wrestled and fought with each other, and became a general nuisance to each other, though both would be lying if they didn't mean "nuisance" fondly. Recently they had started the tradition of sneaking upon one another and slamming a pillow on top of the other's head until they gave in. The amount of porcelain, antiques and precouciously displayed decorations that they had destroyed in this process was innnumerous, and contributed greatly to Cassius's anger at them both.

As of right now, Keefe was trying to beat her into submission with a throw pillow from one of the countless couches in the countless living rooms in the Shores of Solace, while Elizabeth rolled around on the floor, hands scrambling for anything that she could use to counter the merciless attacks. Ro sat completely unbothered on a nearby loveseat, painting her nails.

Suddenly a snap caught both of their attention. In the brief moment that Keefe was distracted, Eliza finally caught hold of an abandoned blanket from the floor and threw it at Keefe's head. After Keefe was effectively blinded, Eliza raced to the door where the snap came from, leaving Keefe writhing in the living room, trying to rid his head of the blanket.

A scroll had been slipped through a small opening in the door. Huh. Elizabeth though, Weird.

Possibly due to Cassius's unbearably snobbish antics, they rarely received mail. However, this one seemed even more special that usually ones. It was sealed with a family crest of a eagly carrying a white rose.

"What is this?" Eliza called out to Keefe, who had already emerged from his battle with the Great Green Blanket, and was now heading down the hall towards her.

"That's the Ruewen Crest- oh that must be from Sophie-" He reached over and snatched the scroll from Eliza's grasp, sprinting down to the other end of the hallway where their rooms were.

Eliza had no choice but to follow, panting as she crashed into the room right after Keefe.

"C'mon, c'mon, lock the door," Keefe rambled, already dragging a drawer over to the door to block it.

"Why you gotta be so secretive man?" Eliza frowned, watching as Keefe unrolled the scroll with shaking hand.

"Please stop talking," Keefe shot back, turning his back to Eliza. She snickered.

"Oooooooo- someone's got a crushhhhh-"

"Shut up! Don't you want to know what's in the scroll?" Keefe retorted, now fully rotated away from Eliza's prying eyes.

Well. He got me there.Eliza fell silent and wait for him to continue. Keefe cleared his throat smugly.

"Elizabeth Sencen is invited to stay the night at Havenfield, eight in the evening, on the sixteenth of June. The invite also extends cordially to Keefe Sencen. And..."

Eliza peered over his shoulder. Beneath the fancy printed script of the invitation was a scrawl: Praying that Keefe does not bring pranking devices or any sorts. I am not a religious person but Tam's hair is "accidentally" dyed during this I will become one -SF

Eliza snorted while Keefe rolled his eyes, muttering something about "not appreciative of the arts."

"I take it that other people are invited too? Like the Tam guy?" Eliza had seen Tam only a handful of times. He seemed normal, if not a bit broody, and Eliza didn't understand why Keefe had such a grudge against him.

"I assume so. Nothing I can do about. Oh what I wouldn't do to dye Bangs Boy's hair bright pink..."

Elizabeth sighed and grabbed one of the pillows, smacking the back of his head with it.

"Hey! Not the hair! Now I have to go prepare, have to impress the ladies, y'know." Keefe rubbed the back of his head, slightly disgruntled. He hopped of the bed and started pushing Eliza towards the door.

"I need privacy, can't share my secrets about my amazing hair after all, now go and get dressed in something actually presentable," Keefe shouted at Eliza through her protests, and after a couple forceful pushes Eliza finally stumbled out the door.

At this rate Keefe's going to start sounding like his father, Eliza skulked, returning to her own room to pack for the night.
